The 19th International Symposium on Global Manufacturing and China
第十九届全球化制造与中国国际研讨会
2023年9月9-10日,杭州
China and other major global economies are facing a new era of intense confrontation between globalisation and de-globalisation, with global manufacturing confronting increasingly significant challenges.
The COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted the vulnerability of global supply chains. The disruptions caused by the pandemic have exposed the risks of relying on single sources for crucial components, materials, or finished products, particularly the risks associated with key core technologies being controlled by others. Manufacturers must develop more resilient and diversified supply chains to withstand disruptions caused by natural disasters, geopolitical tensions, and other unforeseen events.
As manufacturers adopt new technologies such as the Internet of Things, artificial intelligence, and automation, the fourth industrial revolution, or Industry 4.0, is transforming the manufacturing sector. However, implementing these technologies requires substantial investments in infrastructure, management skills, and an innovative ecosystem. Manufacturers must also ensure they effectively acquire and utilise data to optimise their operations and boost productivity.
Climate change, resource scarcity, and other environmental challenges are increasing the pressure on manufacturers to adopt sustainable practices. Manufacturers must accelerate the implementation of "dual carbon" strategies, protect natural resources, and minimise waste as much as possible. This involves a shift towards a circular economy model, prioritising green innovation and recycling of materials and products.
In summary, manufacturing faces several challenges in this new era, requiring comprehensive solutions. To succeed in an ever-changing global market, manufacturers must prioritise resilience, sustainability, digital transformation, and innovation capabilities as they confront complexity.
This international conference will provide an opportunity for in-depth exploration and communication on these topics. Keynote speeches, industry forums, paper development workshops and other sessions will be set. Renowned scholars, seasoned entrepreneurs and academic researchers from around the world will get together to share their insightful studies, experiences, and policy recommendations.
